Food for the Destitute - Project 0113 - Haiti

Our Impact

In Haiti’s rural Central Plateau, Fr. Glenn Meaux’s Kobonal Haiti Mission serves as a major hub for poverty relief, community development and spiritual nourishment. Among the many mission activities Cross Catholic Outreach funds in Kobonal is a monthly food distribution to poor, elderly community members and their families. In 2015, 390 families received regular supplies of beans, corn, cooking oil and soap. In return, the beneficiaries brought firewood for the Mission’s school lunch program.

Cross Catholic Outreach combats malnutrition by working directly with local Catholic priests, nuns and lay leaders whose parish feeding programs serve impoverished children and families in Jesus’ name.

In 2015, we donated food supplies and funded nutrition costs for poverty relief projects in the dioceses of 20 countries. This support included cash grants to 29 projects, plus shipments of food supplies to 24 trusted mission partners. These programs met immediate nutritional needs of the poor while playing a vital role in the Church’s efforts to holistically nourish bodies, minds and souls.

For example, in Guatemala, we helped the St. Joseph Nutrition Center provide emergency aid to children dying of starvation, and in Haiti, we helped Father Glenn Meaux distribute monthly food staples to 390 needy families.
