Early contributions to our special relief effort allowed us to begin distributing a million meals to storm victims just days after the Super Typhoon struck the Philippines. Thanks to the immediate response of our donors, we were also able to reroute a huge container of medicines and send additional food shipments into the area. These early responses allowed our partners “in the trenches” to fund their special outreaches in storm-ravaged communities. Shortly after, our President, Jim Cavnar, traveled to the Philippines to learn what more could be done in our next phase of support.
Cross President, Jim Canvar went to visit our partners in Leyte and Manila shortly after the Typhoon. While there he assisted with Cross funded food distribution and early rebuilding efforts.
Your continued financial support is a blessing to the priests and parish leaders serving overseas – and they are deeply grateful for your help. Our outreach was initially on supplying food and medical relief, but our focus is now shifting to rebuilding and restoration projects to return families to self-sufficiency. As always, we are giving the local priests the flexibility they need to address the many problems they encounter. Our role is to support their efforts as quickly and cost-effectively as possible.
In the weeks ahead, please pray for these partnering priests, nuns and parish lay leaders in the Philippines. Join us in helping them provide safe shelter for the displaced and homeless. Support our efforts to get families back on their feet again. There is much work to be done, but working together, we can make a difference!
